Mano gate is the main entrance gate to North Luangwa national park that is located near the park’s headquarters and it’s the primary access point for the visitors. The gate is accessible through a gravel road from the town of Mpika (approximately 120km/75 miles, 2-3 hours), the 4×4 vehicles recommended due to the road conditions.
Typically the gate can be open from 06:00hrs to 18:00 hours depending on park regulations and season. You are reminded that Mano gate is primary entrance point, but other gates like Mwaleshi and Buffalo gates may be used for specific tours or activities.
Mwaleshi Gate.
Mwaleshi gate is another entrance to North Luangwa national park located in the eastern part of the park located near the Mwaleshi river valley and the surrounding areas. The gate is accessible through a rough gravel road from the town of Mpika which is approximately (150km/93 miles, 3-4 hours), the gate opens from 06:00 to 18:00 hrs. daily but may vary depending on park regulations and season.
Mwaleshi gate is often used for walking safaris, guided tours in the eastern part of the park, accessing the Mwaleshi River and the surrounding areas. The gate can be used by visitors seeking a more remote and secluded safari experience. Kindly note that Mwaleshi gate has limited facilities, so it’s essential to plan ahead, bring necessary suppliers, and coordinate with your guide or tour operator.
Buffalo Gate.
Buffalo gate is located in the southwestern part of the park, near the Buffalo River. Buffalo gate is secondary gate to North Luangwa national park, the gate is approximately 550 meters (1805 ft.) above the sea level. The gate is often used for the guided tours and walking tours, you can use the gate to reach the Buffalo River and surrounding wilderness area. Typically the gate can be open daily from 06:00 to 18:00 hours.
Chomba Gate.
Chomba gate is the secondary entrance to North Luangwa National Park in Zambia and it’s located in the northwestern part of the park near the Chomba area; accesses the Chomba area, known for its scenic views and wildlife. The gate has an elevation of approximately 800 meters (2,625 ft.) above the sea level.
The gate is accessible through a rough gravel road from the town of Mpika approximately 100km/62 miles, 2-3 hours and usually 4×4 vehicles recommended due to the road conditions. And the typically open from 06:00 to 18:00 hours depending on the park regulations and season.

Kapishya Gate.
Kapishya Gate is located in the northeastern part of the park, near the Kapishya River. The gate has an elevation of approximately 700 meters (2300 ft.) above the sea level. The gate is accessible through a rough gravel road from the town of Mpika (approximately 120 km/75 miles and 2-3 hours), the gate is open daily from 06:00 to 18:00 hours but also the time can vary depending on park regulation and season.
