Microlight flight safari on Victoria Falls
Microlight flight safari on Victoria Falls : Microlight flight is an astounding open air open-air experience over the excellent Victoria Falls Tour. It is done in a microlight, which is a very small, lightweight, single or double sedouble-seater. Because of the nature of the aircraft, you can go one at a time with your pilot. Without a doubt, one of the most difficult and insane things to do in Victoria Falls is the microlight flight. Since microlights are able to fly lower over the Falls than helicopters, they provide a more realistic safari experience of flying in the open air. This allows you to truly experience the power of the Victoria Falls. Without a doubt, the most breathtaking way to get those dream panoramic photos of the stunning Victoria Falls in all of their splendour is with a microlight. It’s also a great way to watch the Zambezi River as it flows up to the fall and the formation of the amazing gorges that are carved out below.
The aircraft in itself is exceptionally unique and fascinating. It is a true work of engineering often referred to as a flying washing machine. Microlight flights, in opposition to helicopter or fixed winfixed-wing are entirely open air, providing a somewhat genuine experience of flying naturally. In addition, because microlights are permitted to fly lower over the Victoria Falls than helicopters, you really gese of the power of the Victoria Falls.
This extremely rare safari activity is only available in Livingstone, which is on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. The activity is not available if you are staying in Zimbabwe; instead, you must cross to the other side. It’s not hard to arrange a transfer to Zambia, though it might cost more if you need a visa to enter the country.
Flights are programmed in the morning from 8am to 9.30am and afternoon from 3pm to 5pm when conditions are appropriate for these light aircraft, flights during the heat of the day are not suitable or available.
What Are The Available Flight Options.
The 15-minute flight.
There are two options available for the Microlight flight: a 15-minute flight or a 30-minute flight. The fifteen-minute journey includes a quick flight down the Zambezi River and several circles above the Victoria Falls. From the aircraft, you can see the wildlife that lives in and around the banks of the Zambezi River as well as the surrounding rainforest of the Falls.
The 30-minute flight.
With multiple phases over the Falls, the 30-minute flight starts similarly to the 15-minute flight; however, it then continues downstream over the Batoka gorges and upstream along the Zambezi River to the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park for viewing river wildlife and birds. Over the years, the Zambezi River created these outstanding Zigzag canyons out of the basalt rock. Flying low upstream along the Zambezi and the National Park, the aircraft provides a unique opportunity to see game. Elephants, giraffes, hippos, and crocodiles are among the animals that are nearly always visible during this longer flight.
What You Need To Know.
The minimum age for flying is 8, but anyone younger than that as long as they can fit into the harness and at the discretion of the managers can fly. Please be aware that the full rate must be paid for this activity by all children. There is a maximum passenger weight (100kg).
However, the pilot controls a camera attached on a wing, and pictures taken during the flight can be bought at an extra fee. With the camera mounted on the wing, the pilot can create a unique and memorable portrait of you with the Falls as the backdrop. Although you can request specific photos, experienced pilots will usually photograph the most visually appealing locations along the flight path. It’s wonderful because you’re forced to just watch and take in this beautiful spectacle without having to worry about recording it on camera.
