5 Days Kafue National Park safari takes you to the oldest and biggest national park in Zambia is Kafue, which is located in the country’s western centre. It spans an enormous 22 400 km² (8 650 mi²). One of the biggest reserves in all of Africa, Kafue was founded in the 1920s and formally declared a national park by the renowned Norman Carr in the 1950s. It is only two hours’ drive from Livingstone, but despite its prominence and size, it is still relatively unknown, with large swaths of its virgin bush remaining unexplored. Kafue is home to an amazing diversity of wildlife because of its size and range of habitats.

Detailed Travel Itinerary 

Day 1: Arrival and afternoon game drive.

On the first day of the safari, your safari guide will either pick you either from Kaunda Kenneth International Airport, Lusaka city or Livingstone and belief you about the 5 days Kafue National Park safari. After the beliefing you will begin your journey to Kafue national park with the wonderful views along the way until you arrive the park. Upon your arrival you will check in your lodge and be served with lunch. After lunch you will be picked by your safari guide and go for the afternoon game drive with the stunning views and natural landscape of the environment. When it comes to wildlife you can find a high density of animals (prey and predators) in the North at Busanga Plains which such intriguing. Later you will return back to your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 and 3: Full day experience in Kafue National Park.

On the second and third day of the safari wake up early in the morning and be served with delicious breakfast, later you will be meet with your safari guide and have the two days game driving experience. You will start the day with the morning game drive that will offer you the great views of the early risers while encountering them from the safari vehicle which is the best wildlife experience that every tourist would wish to have, this is where you will spot the lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, red lechwe, puku antelope, herds of buffalo, cheetahs, wild dogs, wildebeest and among others as well as sighting various bird species. Later you will be taken back to your camp for lunch, after lunch you will come back to the park to watch the animal species that you missed during the morning game drive and later you will be driven back to your camp for dinner and overnight stay with the stunning views of various animal species on your deck that is beautiful experience.

Day 4: Morning game drive and canoeing.

On the fourth day of the safari wake up early in the morning and be served with the hearty breakfast, after breakfast you will meet your safari guide and be transferred to the park to the early morning game drive, to spot the big four mammals of the big five mammals that includes the lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards. As well you will spot different bird species. After the morning game drive you will be transferred back to your lodge for lunch after lunch you will be taken to River Kafue where you are going to experience the magical canoeing that will offer you the sightings of the animal species along the river shores, and the gentle waters and abundance of hippos, crocodiles and birdlife that offers you the best experience. After canoeing you will be taken back to your lodge for dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure.

On the last day of the safari, get up early in the morning and be served with the delicious breakfast, after breakfast you will check out from your lodge and be transferred to your desired drop-off destination either Lusaka or Livingstone. Along the way you will enjoy the morning enroute morning game drive with the wonderful views of the animal species and beautiful bird species and appreciating the colorful landscape, after you will proceed with your journey with your packed lunch. And upon your arrival you will be dropped to your desired destination that will make your safari to the end.
